Our Mission
The
Fiberglass Tank and Pipe Institute was incorporated in 1987 as a non-profit
organization. Its' purpose is to provide a forum through
which the fiberglass reinforced thermoset plastic ("FRP"
or "RTP") industry can work together effectively toward
the common goal of advancing the use of all fiberglass
products in the tank and piping marketplace, i.e.
coordinate market studies and statistics, combine
talents and resources to provide standard-setting
organizations with superior technical data and
disseminate information to the government, industry and
the public.
Underwriters Laboratories Listing is a requirement for
member-manufactured underground fiberglass tanks and
fiberglass piping used for flammable and combustible liquids.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Certification (RTP-1) and American Water Works
Association (AWWA D120) are requirements for
member-manufactured aboveground fiberglass tanks in
chemical, industrial or water service. Fiberglass
products also comply with appropriate National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), American Petroleum
Institute (API) Specifications, American Society for
Testing and Materials Standards (ASTM) and other
American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standards. |
