Our Mission
 The
Institute's Mission is to provide a forum through which
the fiberglass reinforced thermoset plastic ("RTP")
industry can work together effectively toward the common
goal of advancing the use of certain fiberglass products
substantially used in the underground tank and piping
marketplace, coordinate market studies, gather
statistics and combine talents and resources to provide
standard-setting organizations with superior technical
data and disseminate information to the government,
industry and the public.
Typical Membership Profile
The Institute was incorporated in 1987 as a non-profit
organization. Member companies must meet certain
criteria. Underwriters Laboratories Listing is a
requirement for member-manufactured underground
fiberglass tanks and piping used for flammable and
combustible liquids. American Society of Mechanical
Engineers (ASME) Certification (RTP-1) and American
Water Works Association (AWWA D120) are requirements for
member-manufactured aboveground fiberglass tanks in
chemical, industrial or water service. AWWA C950 and
American Society for Testing and Materials Standards
(ASTM) D3794, D3517, D3262 pipe or ASTM D3753 are
requirements for member-manufactured pipe or manholes
and wet wells. |
